In Memorium: 1937-2018

Name: Pam Moore

Born: 8/4/37

Home: England

Diagnosis: Wet MD

Eyes Affected: Both

Eye Color: Brown

Age at Diagnosis: 59

Visual Acuity: Uncertain

Treatment: Hot laser twice on both eyes, prior to PDT being approved in UK. 6 x PDT on left eye since 2004. Stable for over 6 months.

Prognosis or Current State of Vision: Right eye, which once had no central vision, now has a very tiny patch of clear vision in the centre. Left (PDT) eye is foggy and distorted. I also use drops for glaucoma in both eyes.

Family History: Mother had MD. Grandmother registered blind at death, cause uncertain.

Impact on My Life: The worst thing was giving up driving in 2004. It changed my life comletely.

Positive Effects: Making so many friends in this group and learning so much about MD and visual impairment in general.

Adaptations: Lots of sunglasses and magnifiers. Lucky to have buses pass my door, but lots of the places I used to go to are not accessible by bus! Have talking books from library and from RNIB.

Working: Now retired.

More About Me: I have been on my own for many years and was quite happy that way until MD came along. I have a son and a daughter, both married, and I have 4 grand-children who are a great delight to me. I am a fanatical gardener.
