The first surgery cauterized the blood vessels, the second removed
them.
Family History
No MD that we know of. Glaucoma and cataracts run
rampant.
Impact on My Life
Is hard to read, because my right eye is far-sighted. It is hard
to cut my or my daughter's nails. I have always had night
blindness, but it is worse. I used to have a book with me at all
times. Now I don't read all that much. I have ADHD, so listening to
tapes of books is sometimes not good. I miss a lot of what was said
by drifting away. Light bothers me more than ever before, yet to
see I have to have a lot of light. Go figure!?!?
Positive Effects
I am more aware of the importance of your eyesight. I am always
telling my nieces and nephews to be careful and wear their glasses
at all times.
Adaptations
I enlarge the print on the computer, and I turn on a light over my
head to read when I do. I don't watch much TV without lights. I
hardly go to the theater anymore, because the flashes of light
hurt.
Working
I teach 6th grade LD students in Tulsa.
More About Me
I have a beautiful 2-year-old daughter. She is the most amazing
thing in my life. I attend a Baptist church in my hometown of
Claremore. I spend a lot of time with my mother and
family.
