Prognosis or Current State of
Vision:
Loss of central vision
in right eye. Statistics show that left eye will turn Wet. It's a
waiting game.
Family History:
General poor eyesight
with some family members, but no history of any serious eye
diseases that I am aware of.
Impact on My Life:
Huge affect with
emotions ranging from anger, despair, and depression to the present

Positive Effects:
Joining the MD Support
Community, as a tour guide, has given me added strengths towards
helping others while at the same time helping myself come to grips
with this disease. It has also given me more insight into the
patients I help treat at my workplace.
Adaptations:
Ongoing learning
process for finding different ways to cope with fading central
vision, such as powerful lighting for reading. Prescription glasses
for both distance and near.
Working:
I work as a Special
Educator/Addictions Counselor at an Inpatient Rehabilitation Center
for Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
More About Me:
Married for 32 years
to Antoine. We have three grown children. My favorite pastimes are
music, theater, art, reading, travelling and meeting new people,
which I find very enriching towards broadening my perspectives on
life.
