Impact on My Life
Idan knows that he has a vision problem, but until we get all the results, mainly the genetic tests that tell if my husband or I carry the gene for this disease, I'm keeping the severity of the situation from him. Idan will be 11 in March and is a born athlete and an extremely active child. School was never a strong point for him, but he loves to go there, because he is very much loved by his classmates. He wins the hearts of anyone who gets into a conversation with him, especially mothers. He may have the disease but I'm the one who feels completely blind in this area. I want him to lead a normal life. I know there are worse things in life, but I can't help but be so discouraged when I think of how this may affect his social life in the future. I'm glad to know that all of you are out there in case he needs to know that he is not alone in the battle. I only pray that today's medicine will be able to help him. Thank you for being there.
