Vision
Partial loss of central vision on both eyes. Right: Clear yet
distorted view. Left: blurred, some blind spots.
Family History
Mother had loss of central vision (legally blind) because of
diabetes and probably also because of AMD. Lived until age of 96,
and was never totally blind.
Impact on My Life
Managing almost everything with low vision aids and eccentric
vision, except of driving, which is not allowed here
(meanwhile...)
Positive Effects
As a result of undergoing that difficult path all by myself, but
seeing, since belonging to this List, what can be achieved by
joining forces, I am now involved in setting up a national
support/interest group of MD-affected in my country.
Adaptations
Special glasses enable to read 1-2 inches from eye outdoors and
special lighting indoors. Beecher binoculars enable watching TV and
performances. Zoomtext for PC, eccentric vision for outdoors and
recognizing faces.
Working
Until retirement, full work with one eye, then teaching and
consultancies until second eye affected.
More About Me
