Prognosis or Current State of Vision
Had one cataract removed two weeks ago, no improvement. Will have second one removed the 12th. My vision had decreased and my Retina Specialist told me it was the cataracts. I have my fingers crossed. So far, it does not look too promising.

Family History
No one that we know of

Impact on My Life
The worst thing that could have happened, happened. I have not been able to drive for the past 3 years, and that takes your independence away entirely. I enjoyed reading the newspaper, books etc., and now read only with a strong magnifier. It hinders me in many ways, but driving is what I miss the most. (PS I could write a book on that). Also taking care of the check book. Many times I don't see all the figures. I have a larger Computer screen.

Positive Effects
Nothing positive.

Adaptations

Working
No.

More About Me
I am lucky to have a husband who doesn't beef about having to take me everywhere. I was a very active person, but since I don't drive I am more home bound. Don't play bridge anymore either. I quit driving on my own. My Doctor said he could not understand why I was not driving, and I told him, "Because I can't see." The last time I drove I got very nervous, as it was a shady road, and I was not sure of myself, so I said "No more". Hate to think of people driving with little vision.
