Diagnosis
Myopic macular degeneration in right eye, severe myopia in both
eyes.
Eyes Affected
Right by Myopic MD, both severe myopia.
Eye Color
Green
Age at Diagnosis
20 for MMD. I needed my first pair of glasses for myopia
at 3.
Visual Acuity
My nearsightedness is correctable to 20/30 with contacts and
to 20/40 with glasses. Currently I only have slight distortion when looking
at lines or text with my MMD-affected eye. So far I can still do everything
I could before my diagnosis of MMD.
Treatment
I had the "cold laser" therapy done in January, which greatly
improved the MMD.
Prognosis or Current State of
Vision
So far everything is all good, but I
can have further problems occur at some point.
Family History
Nothing as far as eye problems, although my mom is
somewhat nearsighted (but my dad once had 20/10 vision, blah)
Adapatations
I'm not as worried as I was, and I'm not going to get
worried as long as it stays the way it is. Just the usual restrictions of
not flying aircraft or getting hit in the head.
Positive Effects
Um, that it's not as bad as it could be, I guess.
Adaptations
Nothing needed, other than talking to other people with eye
diseases.
Working
Still working as an LPN and going to school full-time.
More About Me
I finish RN school in May and then I'm moving to Stillwater
in the fall to major in graphic design and creative writing.
