Treatment
Left eye laser treated in May 2008. Blew out with a hemorrhage again within 2 weeks. I have had Lucentis injections about 10 months in a row.

Prognosis
Stable

Family History
Both parents have MD. My mother wet, and my father dry. With me, it wasn't a point of "if," but "when." I knew it was coming and was doing all the right preventions.

Impact On Your Life
My optometrist has been watching my drusen for years. Left eye hemorrhaged during sleep on 17 May, 2008. Kind of scary!

Positive Effects
The central spot has gotten somewhat lighter since Lucentis treatments Peripheral vision in the left eye allowed for depth perception, and due to the right eye still being good, I'm able to still drive a car.

Adaptations
I use 1x magnifiers to read with my right eye. I use high intensity halogen lights to see the computer screen. Also, I use large type on the computer screen. Sunglasses outside.

Employment
I drove an 18-wheeler and was a driving instructor for many years. Excessive driving caused my eyes to get very tired. The city work was too much to deal with, so I took early retirement. The safety issue was of more importance.

More About Me
My greatest love, after my wife, is driving and anything to do with cars. I have 2 antique cars that I have rebuilt and show at car shows. I was showing one in Carlisle, PA the day my left eye lost central vision. I plan on having a "blast" with the time I've got left, and every day I pray for a cure for us all.

This is my whole car collection. Two of them are antiques: 1973 Opel and 1981 Corvette. The other one is a 2007 Solstice GXP. I've entered them all in various car shows and really enjoy them.
